Easy To Install Catalytic Converter Kit
The original exhaust system on the Fiero is
made from 409 stainless steel. It will surface rust but lasts a
very very long time. The original GM catalytic converter is very
restrictive and a nice horsepower gain is achieved when it is
replaced by a freer flowing unit.
There are a few problems when replacing the factory catalytic
converter. The original converter is welded to the inlet and
outlet exhaust pipes. If you saw off the converter you end up
with a double layer for the new converter set up to go over.
The "other problem is the original converter is very long
and after market converters are much shorter. In most cases 2
short extensions are used to make up that difference.
Unfortunately they are usually made from mild steel pipe which
will rust away in a short time.

Stainless Steel Catalytic Converter Kit |
My replacement catalytic converter kit for OEM exhaust systems remedies these problems. I start with a high flow 409 stainless steel 2 1/4" in/out catalytic converter. I then add an extension to the inlet and outlet which is expanded to go over the 2 layer OEM exhaust pipes where the old converter was removed. These extensions are welded on making the kit very solid. These extensions are 409 stainless steel.
I include 2 top quality 304 stainless steel exhaust clamps!

Catalytic converter for
systems and 2" aftermarket systems
This converter has the inlet side made to go over the original factory down pipe with the 2 layers like the standard replacement converter above. The outlet end has a smaller diameter 409 stainless steel extension pipe that has a 2" ID that will go over the 2" OD of the Borla exhaust system or any aftermarket exhaust system that uses 2" OD pipe. All the aftermarket exhaust systems I have seen are made from 2" OD exhaust pipe. You may want to measure your exhaust pipe to be sure before ordering.
