Introducing
the Fiero Competition Short-Throw Shifter. An easy to install replacement of
the Fiero factory shifter arm and boot. It is about 2
1/2" shorter than the Fiero OEM shifter.
Installed height is 4-3/4" tall from the counsel top
to the top of the OEM shift knob. You can reuse the OEM
shift knob. The shaft is threaded 3/4" farther than
stock so it may be shortened an extra 3/4" if
desired making it 4" tall. In neutral the shifter stands
straight up.
Made from all new parts and requires no core exchange!
Shifter kit includes a new black leather boot
glued to a steel frame. Frame has 4 steel studs welded in
and includes washers and nylock nuts. Shaft is painted
black as it is not seen. Leather boot will touch the
bottom of the shift knob like many sports cars in the
market place. Shifting effort is increased but the
shifting throws are reduced dramatically. This is a top
quality replacement component! Fits all
1984 to 1988 Fieros - 4 and 5 speeds!
*Part of the reduced shift
throw is obtained by the lower section of the shift arm
being longer in length.

Thread size is 10 x 1.5 mm. Any shifter knob with 10 x 1.5 mm threads will
screw onto this shifter if you choose to use a different shifter knob. The
old VW Beetles have this thread size on there shifter knobs. Many
aftermarket knobs exist for the older VW Beetles.
