88 V-6 Power Pulley Kits

Add an under drive power pulley kit to your 1988 V-6 Fiero. This kit includes the idler pulley, smaller hard anodized aluminum crank pulley and the two shorter belts. Easy to bolt on. Adding this power pulley kit reduces the speed of the alternator, water pump and A/C compressor. It eliminates the need to over tighten the alternator to stop belt slippage and squealing. Reducing the speed of the water pump and alternator is OK on an 88 V-6 Fiero. The alternator will still put out plenty of amperage and the water pump will still be sufficient for cooling. This frees up some horsepower.

The biggest advantage I found was when using the A/C. By turning the A/C compressor slower it takes much less horse power to run the A/C and the A/C is still more than sufficient in the cabin of a Fiero. This kit can also be used on 1988 Fiero V-6's with out A/C.

For those who do not want the idler I sell the kit without the idler.

If you want to retain the alternator output on your 88 for a large stereo system or such you may use the power pulley kit that I offer for the 85-87. This kit includes a smaller alternator pulley and includes the idler pulley.
This system retains approximately the same alternator output but reduces the water pump and A/C. (There will be a link here to the 85-87 V-6 power pulley kit)

Add consider adding my steel alternator reinforcement plate to reduce breakage of the cast aluminum alternator bracket.
